For over 22 years, he bridges the spiritual and practical wisdom his indigenous teachers entrusted in him with a powerful contemporary approach relevant to our stressful and unbalanced modern times.
He is on faculty at the Kripalu Center, NY Open Center, The Shift Network, Sounds True, CoSM, Faiths Seminary International and is a staff teacher at the Omega Institute where he was an Hermitage Program honorary guest. Abroad he taught at Imajon Institute (Florence. Italy), Centrum de Roos (Amsterdam, The Nederlands), Bilgi Paylasim Dernegi (Istanbul, Turkey), Stiftung G-19 (Zurich, Switzerland), Reidman College (Israel), Epic Center (Warsaw. Poland), Shamanic Lands (London, UK, and for Tony Robbins (in Brazil), among others. In addition he leads webinars, shamanic circles, and trips to the Andes and the Amazon.
Itzhak is the Amazon bestselling author of The Gift of Shamanism: Visionary Power, Ayahuasca Dreams, and Journeys to Other Realms; Shamanic Transformations: True Stories of the Moment of Awakening and Shamanic Healing: Traditional Medicine for the Modern World.
Itzhak apprenticed with Don José Joaquin Pineda a well-known fifth generation Ecuadorian Quechua Yachak (shaman) from the village of Iluman, who initiated him into the Sacred 24 Yachaks Circle of Imbabura. He was also initiated by Shoré, an Amazonian Kanamari Pajè (shaman) on the banks of the Rio Negro. Itzhak studied and assisted for 12 years with Ipupiara Makunaiman (Dr. Bernardo Peixoto) a Brazilian Pajé from the Ure-eu-wau-wau tribe and his Peruvian curandera wife. Additionally, Itzhak studied with elders and shamans in North and South America, Greenland, Siberia and Africa. Some of his contemporary teachers are Michael Harner, John Perkins, Hank Wesselman, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, and Tom Cowan.
He is the founder/publisher of www.shamanportal.org the global shamanic resource hub and co-founder of the New York Shamanic Circle.
Itzhak's work has been featured in a variety of worldwide publications including the New York Times, radio, and television. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and festivals, and he hosts and participates in shamanic webinars. Itzhak was featured in the films The Hindenburg Omen and Dance of Liberation.
In 1999 Itzhak founded a program called The Bridge to inspire and motivate high school and college students, our future leaders, to connect with their inner knowledge and power and to chart a more peaceful and sustainable future.
An accomplished visual artist and owner of an award-winning advertising agency, he grew up on Kibbutz Beit Alfa in Israel and lives in New York. He is a husband, father and proud grandfather of four amazing souls.
