About me and the work I do.

My name is Gail and I am the founder and owner of ´GAEA - Centre for the Healing Arts & WellBeing´.
Born and raised in Paramaribo, Surinam, I moved to the Netherlands to study Social work and Psychology. After my studies I was supposed to move back to my Homeland, but never did ....

I have a Master's degree in Social Work and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

After my studies I worked as a Social worker, in the field of domestic violence with women and children, as a Teacher for Social Workers and a (empowerment) Trainer of various Psycho-Social courses and workshops.

Over the past 20 years, I have worked with individuals and groups within various settings, from a women's shelter, to classrooms, training organizations and group settings, psychiatry to wellness resorts, helping people on their path of healing, recovery and wellbeing.

I see my work as part of my Soul´s Journey and - Mission, an expression of that which I came to do here.
It is out of Loving Service that I guide, heal, support, mentor, empower and inspire others to know, heal, love and be true to themselves. To be able to Live/Love, with an open and compassionate Heart and follow their calling and Soul Journey, in a ´Authentic and Loving´ way.

By sharing what this Sacred Soul Journey has taught me and what has helped me along the way, I hope it can help U too.

About my Soul Journey and finding the Self
¨The stormy Search for the Self¨
A mental, emotional, spiritual & physical ´break-down´, took me on a whole different path, than the one I was travelling on, before my (emotional & mental) ´break-through´....
A couple of psychological labels, such as adjustment disorder, burn-out, (postnatal) depression, anxiety & panic attacks opened the door to explore psychology & spirituality on a deeper level, which let to knowledge about Kundalini Awakening, Soul-loss and ´Spiritual Crisis & Emergency´ (terms I 1st encountered by reading the book ¨A stormy search for the self by C.Grof & S. Grof)

Going through many spiritual crisis/emergency, dark nights of the Soul, transformations, breakdowns and breakthroughs, let to trying out different healing methods/arts. A whole new adventure of (self) discovery/awareness, healing, soul growth, higher consciousness, which goes on and on...

Being highly emotionally sensitive and the battle with anxiety, depression, feelings of vulnerability, inadequacy, insecurity, shame & guilt throughout the years, has helped me to come face to face with myself (ego) my persona, and all dark/light aspects within, such as deep rooted fears, anxiety, shame and guilt and wounds, I didn even know lived within me!

This personal healing proces also inspired me to look deeper into the mystery of life, exploring various religious, spiritual, esoteric texts and ancient teachings and further developing my knowledge regarding the psyche/soul.
The study and practice of Meditation, Body- & energy work, Mythology, Transpersonal Psychology, Astrology, Numerology, Tarot, Oracle cards and other divination tools, have formed an integrated whole in my work.

This Life Path, I now see as the ‘’Stormy search for the Self’’, gave me many insights in my Soul Mission and many tools for the Work & Service, I came to do here... helping to raise awareness and play a part in the blossoming of humanity’s (higher) consciousness and Soul's evolution..

Ik werk vanuit een holistisch-, transpersoonlijke visie en mijn manier van werken is eclectisch.

Ik heb een fijne locatie in Rotterdam, genaamd 'Praktijk Therapeia Psyche´ dat een onderdeel is van GAEA Centre for the Healing Arts & WellBeing.

Beroepsverenigingen

Ben niet bij een beroepsvereniging aangesloten, omdat ik geloof in ´equal give and take´en dat is niet het geval. Het levert mij te weinig op aan voordelen. De tijd voor het volgen van cursussen, het contributie geld en de verplichtingen, waar ik aan moet voldoen, investeer ik liever in mijn clienten en zelfstudie.

I am on a journey of self development and in living life consciously I get confronted with every aspect of my being. Layer upon layer is getting stripped, and in the shadows of my existence lies a hurt child screaming for love & safety.

To be healed this inner child needs the light. I decided to ask for help, and I felt a calling to search for a professional who could help me on my journey. I met up with Gail and it felt heart warming. After leaving from my first session I felt like a massive block of emotional pain came loose. I was tired but I also started to feel more freedom. My inner child felt seen, instead of surpressing the call for attention I gave it loving awareness of its pains.

I am getting to know myself completely, and the meaning of being fit no longer lives on only the physical plains. I believe that being fit is also working on your mental and spiritual side. So my holistic fitness journey is not only workouts, but very much so also work ins.

Door Gail ben ik steeds meer over mezelf gaan leren. Ook al dacht ik dat ik alles al wist en het allemaal onder controle had, heeft Gail me op haar bijzondere wijze zoveel lessen en inzicht meegegeven. Ik kwam bij Gail terecht omdat ik meer aansluiting zocht tussen mijn innerlijke wereld en wat ik naar buiten toe deel. Om dit met zelfvertrouwen in balans te brengen en durven tonen. Tijdens mijn eerste sessie met Gail kwam deze wens naar boven en besloten we een coaching traject van 5 sessies te doen, waarbij Gail een deel van mijn pad met mij bewandelt met een luisterend oor, kritische vragen, inzichten en het delen van ervaringen.

Het is fijn om met Gail te zitten en praten, ik voelde me heel erg op mijn gemak bij haar. Ik ben inmiddels bijna klaar en ben erg tevreden over de ervaringen en inzichten die ik bij Gail heb opgedaan.

Gail heeft mij zowel lichamelijk als mentaal veel verlichting gegeven! Zij weet met haar inzichtelijke vragen de vinger op de zere plek te leggen. Onlangs heb ik mijn eerste sessie met Gail gehad. Ik kijk uit naar de volgende sessies.
De ontvangst was hartelijk en ik voelde me snel thuis. Zelfs al met de eerste sessie had k het idee dat Gail me begreep en ze heeft me ook huiswerk meegegeven. Nadien heb ik ook nog contact gehad en kreeg ik een link van een video die raakvlakken had met dat wat we hebben besproken. Dat stelde ik wel op prijs.

Na een korte, maar zeer waardevolle telefoongesprek voelde ik me door Gail meteen gehoord en gesteund! Ik kwam erg gespannen met onderdrukte emoties en met een volle hoofd aan bij Gail. Ze heeft me meteen een veilig gevoel gegeven, waar ik mezelf helemaal heb durven ontladen. Ze heeft me nieuwe inzichten gegeven en handvatten meegegeven wat mij kan helpen. Ik vond het heel fijn met gail te hebben gesproken, ze stelde me heel erg op mijn gemak en kon mijn hart bijna(sommige details van bepaalde situaties vind ik nog moeilijk te delen) volledig luchten zonder dat ik mij daar ook maar enkele keer veroordeeld over voelde. Ik kwam binnen en was klaar om alles op tafel te gooien en hoopte stiekem dat zij met de gouden tip kwam, een oplossing wat alles makkelijker zou maken. Gail begon na ongeveer een kwartier te hebben gepraat met reiki wat heel relaxt was, omdat ik nogal hyper soms kan zijn dus dat deed me weer even ontspannen. Vervolgens hebben we over het een en ander gepraat, gail moest mij natuurlijk eerst wat beter leren kennen en ik haar ook. Gail is een mooie lieve vrouw met een fijne energie. In haar ogen is te zien dat ze dit met passie doet.

Gail is precies waar ik naar op zoek was, iemand met een hele brede kennis en veel inzicht en ervaring. Ik voelde mij ook heel erg thuis, een warm bad. Daarnaast draait ze er niet om heen en zegt ze wat zij ziet, iets wat ik heel erg fijn vind. Ze helpt je dmv samen te werken en laat je ook merken dat je vaak zelf al veel kennis hebt maar misschien alleen niet weet waar je moet beginnen of hoe je verder moet ( in mijn geval dan). Being chronically ill takes a toll not only on the body but it also has a tendency to rob you of your spiritual well being. Self doubt, guilt, anger and fear are emotions that go hand in hand with physical limitations. Wants, needs and dreams seem unattainable due to pain and soon the inner voice becomes the inner enemy. Reminding you daily that you can’t rather than can achieve the life that you envision. You shield yourself from everyday life and cocoon allowing the limitations to wrap around you like a comfortable blanket. Drifting further and further away from family, community and self.
The soul, your true authentic self however refuses to give up. Causing an inner battle where the mind and soul play tug of war. One pulling hard to get out and share your talents and love with the world the other pulling harder to keep you in the false safety of your cocoon.

Reaching out and seeking help despite the inner enemy’s constant reminder that you are written off and valueless is risky. You can easily fall into the hands of psychotherapist, coaches or so called healers who try to help by either forcing acceptance of illness and limitations or by ignoring them all together. Making you feel misunderstood and even more scared of life, running back to the shelter of your cocoon.

It takes a soulful healer who is in touch with their own soul their true authentic self, unafraid to show their own battle scars. Reaching out from soul to soul instead of reciting textbook solutions. Unapologetically human. Showing you that the simple fact that you are, regardless of your state of being, entitles you to fulfill your life’s purpose. Handing you not only the tools but also the tenacity to live life to the fullest. Teaching you that your very limitations are your unique gifts, your battle is not to be ashamed off, your scars are not to be hidden. Rather than hiding limitations flaunt them to the world wear them proudly as a badge of your existence. Allowing the darkness to be a teacher rather than a prison warden.
